Everything a first-time client asks before choosing a skin and laser clinic — how we work, what we treat, and why our approach is different. No hype, just honest answers.
At FILO, the consultation is the most important part of your treatment journey
In Cork, consultations are led by Nurse Ryan; in Dublin, by Nurse Jedi and Nurse KC.
We start with you — your skin concerns, your goals, and your lifestyle — not clinic promos or pre-set packages. This makes every visit meaningful and personal.
What to Expect
1
Arrive Ready
We recommend coming in makeup-free or with SPF only. But if you’re coming straight from work or don’t have time to remove your makeup, don’t worry — we will cleanse your skin to ensure accurate analysis.
VISIA® Skin Analysis
Free at FILO, normally charged extra elsewhere
We use VISIA® to capture multi-angle facial images under consistent lighting, angles, and camera quality. This ensures objective comparisons every time — no guessing, no hiding of results. VISIA® analyses eight key features (wrinkles, spots, pores, UV damage, redness, pigmentation, texture, porphyrins) and provides a TruSkin Age® score to guide your plan.

3
Your Treatment Plan
We build a treatment plan that fits your lifestyle, goals, deadlines, and budget. Because FILO offers Ireland’s widest range of treatments and devices, there is always a safe and effective option that will suit you.
Realistic Expectations
There is no one-time, fix-all treatment. We discuss treatment frequency, downtime, possible side effects, and most importantly — realistic expectations. You’ll understand what you can benefit from each treatment without overpromises.

Skincare Recommendations
In-clinic treatments create change, but skincare maintains it. Without it, it’s like taking two steps forward and one step back. We prioritise the FILO Skincare Trio (retinoid, antioxidant, SPF) and guide you on what active ingredients to look for across all brands — not just what we retail.
Review & Track Progress
We will set a review, usually one month after starting a treatment or new product. VISIA® allows us to track progress with precise before-and-after comparisons, ensuring we celebrate wins and adjust the plan as needed.

About The FILO Clinic
What is The FILO Clinic?
The FILO Clinic is a nurse-led advanced skin and laser clinic with locations in Ballincollig, Cork and Charlestown, Dublin. Founded in July 2022 by nurses Ryan Lumor and Christina Lumor, the clinic specialises in natural-looking skin rejuvenation using gold-standard, evidence-based technology. Every treatment is delivered by a qualified nurse, with in-house medical oversight from our resident Aesthetic Doctor. Our focus is honest, personalised care: we assess your skin properly, explain what will and won’t work, and build a plan around your goals rather than selling from a menu.
Where is the FILO Clinic located?
The FILO Clinic has two locations in Ireland. Our Cork clinic is on the 2nd floor of Exchange House, Main Street, Ballincollig, Co. Cork, P31 K020, above Boots Pharmacy. Our Dublin clinic is at Unit 501, Charlestown Shopping Centre, St. Margaret’s Street, Charlestown, Dublin 11, opposite the Odeon Cinema. Both clinics offer the same standard of nurse-led care, the same signature protocols, and free parking nearby.
Who will treat me at The FILO Clinic?
Every skin and laser treatment at The FILO Clinic is carried out by a fully qualified, medically trained nurse, never a technician. Consultations are led by Nurse Ryan in Cork and by Nurse Jedi and Nurse KC in Dublin. Ryan Lumor is a Sciton Distinguished Partner and a Key Opinion Leader for Sciton, LDM Triple and Sofwave, as well as a laser trainer. Any medical or injectable treatments are administered exclusively by our in-house Aesthetic Doctor, Dr. Dario Samos, so there is clinical accountability at every step.
Is The FILO Clinic safe and medically qualified?
Yes. The FILO Clinic is nurse-led with in-house medical oversight, so every treatment is delivered by a registered nurse and, where a treatment is medical in nature, by our resident Aesthetic Doctor. We assess your skin with VISIA imaging before recommending anything, set realistic expectations from the first appointment, and track your progress objectively over time. We use only devices with established clinical evidence, and we are honest about downtime, side effects and the number of sessions a result requires.
What makes The FILO Clinic different from other skin and laser clinics?
Three things. First, care is genuinely nurse-led with in-house medical oversight, so treatments are performed by qualified nurses and our Aesthetic Doctor, not technicians. Second, we invest in gold-standard technology, much of it available at few other clinics in Ireland, including Soprano Titanium, LDM Triple, Sofwave and the Sciton platform. Third, we lead with honesty: a complimentary VISIA-based Skin and Face Analysis, realistic expectations, and progress you can measure. We would rather build a lasting relationship than make a quick sale.
Getting Started
Is the consultation really free?
Yes. Your Complimentary Skin and Face Analysis, including full VISIA imaging, is completely free, with no obligation to book any treatment. Many clinics charge for the consultation and the skin analysis as extras; at The FILO Clinic both are included at no cost. The appointment exists to understand your skin and give you honest answers, whether or not you go on to book a single treatment.
What happens at my first appointment?
Every journey begins with a Complimentary Skin and Face Analysis, a proper clinical assessment rather than a sales chat. We analyse your skin using VISIA imaging, talk through your concerns, lifestyle and goals, and build a personalised plan around your budget and priorities. You will leave understanding exactly what is realistic, how many sessions you may need, and what results to expect. Come makeup-free or in SPF only if you can — but if you are coming from work, we will cleanse your skin so the analysis is accurate.
What is VISIA and why does it matter?
VISIA is a gold-standard skin and face imaging system that captures multi-angle photographs under consistent lighting. It objectively analyses eight key features — wrinkles, spots, pores, UV damage, redness, brown pigmentation, texture and porphyrins (bacteria) — and calculates your TruSkin Age as a baseline. This replaces guesswork with data: we can see exactly what your skin needs and track real progress with accurate before-and-after comparisons. VISIA analysis is complimentary for every client at The FILO Clinic.
Will I be pressured to buy treatments?
No. Your Skin and Face Analysis is about understanding your skin, not selling to you. We give honest, evidence-based guidance, including telling you when a treatment is not right for you or when good skincare alone will do the job. Your plan is built around your budget and priorities, and there is no obligation to book anything on the day. We believe trust is earned through honesty, not pressure.
How do you decide which treatment is right for me?
We start with evidence, not assumptions. Your VISIA Skin and Face Analysis shows us your specific concerns objectively, and we combine that with your goals, skin type, lifestyle and budget to design a plan. We foreground the concern you want to solve — pigmentation, redness, texture, laxity or hair — and match it to the right technology and protocol, rather than pushing whatever device is trending. Because we hold one of the widest ranges of gold-standard devices in Ireland, we can choose what genuinely suits you.
How much do treatments cost?
Because every plan is personalised, pricing depends on your specific concerns and the number of sessions your result requires — which is exactly why we start with a Complimentary Skin and Face Analysis. At that appointment you will receive clear, itemised pricing for your recommended plan, with no obligation to proceed.
Results and Honesty
What results can I realistically expect?
That depends on your skin and the concern you are treating, and we will always be specific with you rather than promise the world. Most results build gradually over a course of sessions, and we track them objectively with VISIA so you can see genuine progress. At your first appointment we will tell you honestly what is achievable for your skin, how many sessions it is likely to take, and what maintenance looks like afterwards. Individual results vary, and we would rather set an honest expectation than an inflated one.
Do you guarantee results?
No responsible clinic can guarantee results, and we will not pretend otherwise. What we can promise is a plan built on evidence, gold-standard technology, and objective VISIA tracking so progress is measured rather than assumed. If your skin is not responding as expected, we review and adjust. Honesty about what is realistic is one of the main reasons clients choose, and stay with, The FILO Clinic.
How many sessions will I need, and how soon will I see results?
It varies by treatment and concern. Some treatments, such as our Glow Facial, refresh the skin immediately, while others — pigmentation, scar or skin-tightening protocols — typically need a course of three to six sessions with results building over weeks. At your Skin and Face Analysis we will give you a realistic session count and timeline for your specific plan, and we track progress with VISIA so you can see it objectively. We never promise overnight fixes.
Is treatment painful, and is there downtime?
It depends on the treatment. Many of our technologies are designed for comfort, with little or no downtime, so you can often return to normal activities immediately; more intensive protocols, such as certain laser or scar treatments, involve more recovery. Your nurse will explain exactly what to expect — including any discomfort, downtime and aftercare — before you commit. Nothing is hidden; realistic expectations are part of how we work.
Will treatment work for my skin tone?
Yes. The FILO Clinic treats every skin tone and skin type. We deliberately invest in technology that is safe and effective across the full range of skin tones, including Soprano Titanium laser hair removal, which is designed to be suitable and comfortable for darker skin tones that many older lasers cannot safely treat. Your nurse assesses your skin individually and selects the right settings and devices for you, so care is genuinely inclusive rather than one-size-fits-all.
Treatments and Technology
What skin concerns does The FILO Clinic treat?
We treat a broad range of skin and laser concerns, including fine lines and early ageing, pigmentation and uneven tone, redness and rosacea, acne and acne scarring, textural irregularities, skin laxity and unwanted hair. We also offer laser hair removal for all skin tones, hair restoration, body contouring and IV wellness. Rather than starting with a device, we start with your concern and match it to the right evidence-based treatment. If a concern is outside our scope, we will tell you honestly.
What technology and devices does The FILO Clinic use?
We invest only in gold-standard devices with established clinical evidence, many available at few other clinics in Ireland. These include the Sciton platform (BBL HERO, MOXI and more), Soprano Titanium laser hair removal, Sofwave for skin tightening, LDM Triple ultrasound, Virtue RF microneedling, ProCell therapies and Dermalux LED. We also use VISIA for skin and face analysis. Choosing the right device for each person is precisely why our range matters — it lets us tailor treatment rather than force one solution onto every concern.
What are The FILO Clinic’s signature protocols?
Our signature protocols are treatment combinations designed in-house that you will not find elsewhere. They include the Glow Facial, a 14-step medical facial; Glow Reset, a facial plus a medical-grade peel; Redness Eraser, a multi-technology protocol for redness and rosacea; Confidently Clear, for pigmentation and clarity; Acne Clear Trio, for active breakouts; and the 5 Stack Scar Treatment, a layered approach to scarring. Each combines several gold-standard technologies for results a single device cannot achieve on its own.
Do you offer laser hair removal, and is it suitable for dark skin?
Yes. We offer laser hair removal using Soprano Titanium, which is designed to treat all skin tones safely and comfortably, including darker skin tones that older lasers often cannot. Treatment is delivered by a qualified nurse who assesses your skin and hair type and sets the device accordingly. Most clients find it comfortable, and a course of sessions delivers long-term reduction in hair growth. As with all our treatments, we will give you a realistic session count at your assessment.
Does The FILO Clinic offer injectables or anti-wrinkle treatments?
Yes. The FILO Clinic offers medical injectables where they are genuinely the right choice for your goals, administered exclusively by our in-house Aesthetic Doctor, Dr. Dario Samos. Because these are medical treatments, they follow a one-to-one consultation rather than being chosen from a menu, and they are recommended only where clinically appropriate — always alongside your skin health plan, never as a standalone quick fix. Whatever your plan involves, our focus is natural-looking, measured results. Book a one-to-one consultation with our Aesthetic Doctor to discuss whether they are right for you.
Does The FILO Clinic recommend skincare?
Yes, and it is central to how we work. In-clinic treatments transform your skin, but daily skincare is what protects and maintains the results. We build every plan on the FILO Skincare Trio — a retinoid at night, an antioxidant in the morning and daily sunscreen — then tailor active ingredients to your specific concern. Advice is nurse-led and honest: we recommend what your skin actually needs across trusted brands, not whatever we are pushing. Good skincare makes your treatments work better and last longer.
